OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics left-hander Drew Pomeranz has undergone surgery on his pitching shoulder.
The team said Thursday that the procedure took place Wednesday in Dallas, performed by Dr. Keith Meister. Pomeranz is scheduled to begin physical therapy as soon as possible with the plan that he will be ready for spring training come February.
The 26-year-old Pomeranz went 5-6 with a 3.66 ERA in 53 appearances with nine starts spanning 86 innings this past season for the A's, who missed the playoffs for the first time in four years.
