CLEVELAND -- Indians designated hitter Carlos Santana is out of the lineup against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday, a day after suffering a contusion on the right side of his head when he was hit by a foul ball in the dugout.
Santana was standing behind the railing on the top step of the dugout when he was struck by teammate Francisco Lindor's foul in the fifth inning Thursday night. He was helped to the clubhouse by Cleveland's trainers and underwent tests before being sent home.
Indians manager Terry Francona said after the game that Santana was doing better but would be monitored for concussion symptoms.
Santana, who homered in the first inning, is batting .242 with 25 home runs and 62 RBIs.
