NEW YORK -- The San Francisco Giants have flipped their starting pitchers for the final two games of their weekend series against the New York Yankees.
Johnny Cueto, the NL's All-Star starter, was moved up a day in the rotation and will open Saturday's game. Jeff Samardzija was pushed back until Sunday.
San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy made the decision with his first-place team in a season-high, six-game losing streak.
Both pitchers will be making their second start since the All-Star break. Samardzija did not get a decision in a 7-6, 10-inning loss at San Diego on July 16, and Cueto took the loss in a 5-3 defeat to the Padres the following day.
