LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky coach John Calipari gave his players large bottles of hand sanitizer and had the team's facilities and dorm rooms scrubbed this week to deal with a cold bug that affected some members of the program, the coach said Friday.
"Each of them have [hand sanitizer] in the room," Calipari said. "We got sick this week. And a couple of the guys got sick. So we sanitized everything. ... [Concourse of the practice facility], locker room, bathroom, shower, videos, lockers, their common areas over there, bathrooms over in the [Wildcat Coal Lodge]."
The bug first hit members of Calipari's staff during the team's trip to the Bahamas for Monday's matchup against Arizona State.
No need for Wildcats fans to panic, though. Every Kentucky player practiced this week and they will all suit up against UCLA at Rupp Arena on Saturday, according to team spokeswoman Deb Moore.
Earlier this week, per reports, freshmen De'Aaron Fox and Bam Adebayo displayed photos on Snapchat of the GermX hand sanitizer Calipari had distributed.
Moore said Calipari wanted to take "precautionary" measures to keep the team healthy.
"We just fumigated everything," Calipari quipped. "Dead animals everywhere."
