CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Indians designated hitter Carlos Santana was hit in the dugout by a foul ball Thursday night and was helped to the clubhouse for a checkup.
The Indians announced that Santana had a contusion on the right side of his head.
Santana hit a leadoff home run in the first inning. The Indians led the Los Angeles Angels 14-3 when he was struck by teammate Francisco Lindor's foul in the fifth.
Santana was standing behind the railing on the top step of the dugout and went down after being hit. Cleveland's trainers checked on Santana as a concerned Lindor knelt outside the batter's box.
