Jason Pierre-Paul shows he still has sense of humor in tweets

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul isn't ready to return to the football field, but he's offered yet another sign that his recovery is on track -- particularly as it pertains to his sense of humor.

Pierre-Paul, who lost his right index finger and suffered multiple other injuries to his right hand in a July 4 fireworks accident, tweeted Sunday morning about his condition for the first time since the accident happened. His first tweet was a self-motivating pronouncement:

That tweet included a confusing typo, as Pierre-Paul seemed to be trying to say, "except God himself." Confirmation of this arrived a few minutes later, when Pierre-Paul tweeted his correction:

There's still no indication when Pierre-Paul might feel good enough about his physical recovery to join the Giants, who have been frustrated that he hasn't allowed their doctors or trainers to examine him. But people close to Pierre-Paul have indicated several times over the past two months that he does plan to return and that he expects to be able to play this year.

The Giants, short on impact pass-rushers, have not rescinded Pierre-Paul's $14.813 million franchise tag, which he has not yet signed.
