Padres activate OF Will Venable

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres reinstated outfielder Will Venable from the paternity leave list and optioned outfielder Alex Dickerson to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

The team also placed right-handed pitcher Marcos Mateo (neck strain) on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday. Left-hander Frank Garces was recalled from El Paso, his third stint with the Padres this season.

Left-hander Caleb Thielbar was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins and was optioned to El Paso.

Outfielder Wil Myers (left wrist tendinitis) was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
