March Madness can bring out the competitive side in anyone, especially if your favorite team -- or your alma mater -- is involved.
Such was the case with San Diego Padres catcher Austin Hedges and manager Andy Green.
According to Padres reporter AJ Cassavell,Hedges is a huge UCLA fan. Green played baseball for Kentucky, so he and Hedges placed a bet on the outcome of the Bruins-Wildcats meeting in the Sweet 16 last Friday. Kentucky emerged with an 86-75 win,and apparently that meant it was time for Hedges to rock a full Wildcats uniform.
The 24-year-old catcher repped Big Blue Nation at a Padres workout on Tuesday by donning a blue jersey and shorts, along with matching socks.
The team appeared to enjoy the outcome of Hedges' lost bet, even tweeting out a video clip of him in the outfit.
Lesson learned. Probably not the best idea to bet against your manager.
