MILWAUKEE -- The San Diego Padres have recalled reliever Leonel Campos from Triple-A El Paso, fortifying the pitching staff following the right hamstring injury to starter Andrew Cashner.
The Padres made the move before the game Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers, which Cashner was supposed to start. Cashner was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday.
Reliever Luis Perdomo was tabbed to replace Cashner on Saturday. Manager Andy Green expected Perdomo to go no more than five innings, so Campos gives San Diego a seventh arm in the bullpen.
Campos is on his second stint with the Padres after pitching one game in April, allowing seven runs in one-third of an inning on April 21 against Pittsburgh.
Outfielder Alex Dickerson was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Campos.
