Raiders DE Justin Tuck to have surgery for torn pectoral muscle

The Oakland Raiders are expected to lose defensive end Justin Tuck for the rest of the season.

A league source confirmed that Tuck is expected to have surgery soon for a torn pectoral muscle and be put on injured reserve, ending his season. The Raiders, currently in their bye week, are 2-3 and don't play again until Oct. 25 at San Diego Chargers.

Tuck was injured in the fourth quarter of a 16-10 home loss to Denver on Sunday. Oakland coach Jack Del Rio suggested Wednesday that Tuck would be out for an extended time when he said Tuck's MRI results were "not good."

The former Giant, 32, is in the second year of a two-year, $10 million deal with the Raiders. Tuck has started all five games for Oakland and has 14 tackles and a sack. Second-round pick Mario Edwards and Benson Mayowa will be in line for more playing time with Tuck out.
