Raiders pay tribute to Vin Scully

Vin Scully, aka the voice of baseball, says his farewell to the broadcast booth on Sunday afternoonasthe Los Angeles Dodgers complete their regular season on the road against the San Francisco Giants. The nearbyOakland Raiders, who were the Dodgers' neighbors for 13 seasons in L.A. during the 1980s and '90s,felt the need to honor him.

In a full-page ad in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Raiders posted atribute to Scully with a large photo of him. Thecaption reads "COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE."

Scully grew up in New York rooting for the Giants when they played there alongside the Brooklyn Dodgers until their twin moves to Californiafollowing the 1957 season. It so happens the final game that he announcesis withhis childhood team playingthe team that he has poured his heart out for through the mic. Scully has announced Dodgers games for 67 seasons, going back to Ebbets Field in 1950.
