Ronda Rousey, Tina Fey to star in comedy, report says

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey will star alongside Tina Fey in a comedy titled "Do Nothing Bitches," according to a report from Deadline.

Universal Pictures has acquired the project. The script is written by Paula Pell, who also scribed "Sisters," a recent comedy featuring Fey and Amy Poehler.

The upcoming film is titled after a phrase Rousey made famous last year, before a 34-second knockout win overBethe Correia in August.

"I have this one term for the kind of woman that my mother raised me to not be," she said during an episode of a UFC-produced Embedded series. "I call it a 'do-nothing bitch' or I call it a 'DNB' a lot of the time. The kind of chick that just tries to be pretty and be taken care of by somebody else."

Rousey has filed for 16 trademarks to the phrase "Do Nothing Bitch" or variations of it. A shirt with it printed on the front sold 57,000 units. Singer Beyonce featured a clip of it during a live concert.

Rousey is also involved in a Peter Berg-directed film titled "Mile 22" this year. She's scheduled to film a remake of "Road House," and a biopic based off her autobiography, "My Fight/Your Fight," is in development by Paramount.

While some industry insiders predicted that the dominating loss Rousey suffered to Holly Holm late last year would hurt her marketing future, it actually has shown no signs of slowing down. Aside from getting picked up for the new film and shooting the "Road House" remake, she also is hosting "Saturday Night Live" on Jan. 23

A U.S. bronze medalist in judo in 2008, Rousey (12-1) suffered the first loss of her professional MMA career when Holm knocked her out in the second round of their November fight. UFC president Dana White has said Rousey will fight again, but she will not come back in time for the promotion's landmark UFC 200 event on July 9 in Las Vegas.
