DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have acquired Kody Eaves from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Jefry Marte in a swap of infielders.
The 22-year-old Eaves spent last season with Class A Inland Empire, playing in 134 games and hitting .248 with 17 doubles, 11 triples, 11 home runs and 71 RBI.
The 24-year-old Marte was designated for assignment by the Tigers last week after spending most of last season with Triple-A Toledo, hitting .275 with 25 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs and 65 RBI. He appeared in 33 games with the Tigers, hitting .213 with nine runs scored, four doubles, four home runs and 11 RBI.
The deal was announced Wednesday.
