HAYWARD, Calif. -- At least four earthquakes, ranging from preliminary magnitudes 2.7 to 3.7, struck near Hayward on Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey
The first earthquake was a magnitude 2.7, recorded by USGS at 5:08 a.m. A second magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck just before noon, with a magnitude 3.2 earthquake recorded two minutes later in the same area. A third preliminary magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck just before 2 p.m.
Locals reported feeling the quake as far as Concord and Fremont.
