FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Community Food Bank hosts more than 80 neighborhood markets per month throughout their five-county service area. The markets are only one of their food distribution programs that serve around 280,000 people per month.
"We serve 40 million pounds of food per year which is seven truckloads come in and out of our warehouse per day," said Andy Souza, CEO Community Food Bank.
That warehouse is where you can find volunteers stuffing their backpack program or prepping holiday boxes.
"The holidays can put a strain on your budget and for families on thin margin, it can be a very heart-wrenching time," said Souza.
ABC30, in partnership with the Walt Disney Company and ABC, teamed up with Feeding America kicked off the season of giving with a $15,000 donation to Community Food Bank.
It's all part of the nationwide Share the Joy campaign.
You can help share the joy by giving back-- Community Food Bank is always looking for volunteers or you can donate.
Souza said the bank is on par to reach their annual goal but said the challenge is there always so much more to give.
"For every dollar that comes to us we can provide seven meals... that turns into a $10 donation can feed a family of four for a week."
