Graciela Moreno
In 1997, she was the first journalist in the Central Valley to crossover from a Spanish-language television station to anchor the news in the market's number one English-language television station, ABC30. She currently anchors Action News Midday, Live at Four and Live at Five.
Moreno was 19 years old, a sophomore in college, when she landed her first job in television as a producer at Univision's Sacramento affiliate. While working full-time, she continued her studies at night and graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, with a degree in Communications. Months later, she became the main evening anchor at KFTV Univision in Fresno.
During her more than 25-year career at ABC30, she has covered major stories throughout the central valley and beyond. Some of her most memorable assignments include covering Pope John Paul II's visit to Mexico City for the Canonization of Saint Juan Diego, reporting from the Arizona desert on the plight of undocumented immigrants crossing the US-Mexico border, and visiting a maximum security facility in northern California where juvenile delinquents volunteered to knit clothes for premature babies.
For ten years, Moreno was also the host of Latino Life, a half-hour weekly program that focused on the issues and people making an impact in the Central Valley's Latino community.
Moreno was the first person in her family to attend college and is a big supporter of education; she mentors young Valley professionals and is a frequent speaker at Valley schools and adult programs where she encourages students of all ages to set goals and pursue their academic dreams.
In 2023, Moreno was honored by the state's Latino Caucus with the Latino Spirit Award for her Achievements in Journalism.
Moreno is a volunteer with the Fresno chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and a member of its first Latino Council, and in 2019 was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019 to the state's Alzheimer's Task Force, led by former First Lady of California Maria Shriver.
In 2022, she received the Trailblazers for Prosperity Award by the Southeast Fresno Community Economic Development Association.
Moreno has also served on the board of the Fresno-Madera Chapter of the American Red Cross.
