Matthew Cardenas
Matthew Cardenas joined the Action News team in December 2019. He is the morning digital producer.

Prior to joining the ABC30 Action News team, Matthew was a digital producer at KTRK in Houston, where he was born. He also interned at the station the summer prior to landing a job.

He spent time in both the news and sports world, including contributing with digital content for the Houston Astros' 2019 World Series run. He has interviewed athletes such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Jose Altuve, DeAndre Hopkins and Adrian Peterson.

Matthew also spent time covering Texas Tech basketball and football for the Dallas Morning News.

He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Public Relations.

While Matthew was born and raised in Texas, he loves exploring all that California has to offer with his wife, whom he met here on the West Coast.

When Matthew isn't working, he's probably playing video games, visiting a brewery, playing pickleball or watching anything Star Wars-related.
