2 students being treated for potential fentanyl overdose on Caruthers High campus, deputies say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Emergency teams responded to Caruthers High School around 2:45 Friday afternoon.

Medics found two students suffering from a possible opioid overdose.

They administered multiple doses of the emergency mediation Narcan to those students.

Ambulances rushed those students to the hospital, where their conditions have now stabilized.

The entire campus shut down for an hour as investigators feared the ill students may have been exposed to the deadly opioid fentanyl.

Deputies say it's still unclear what substance the two students may have ingested or come in contact with.

The Fentanyl Overdose Resolution Team arrived at the campus to check for any possible traces of the deadly drug.



Investigators say no other students suffered any medical episodes.
