Bomb threat forces evacuations of Fresno State dorms and other buildings, threat found not credible

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- No credible threat was found following a bomb threat to several Fresno State buildings.

Fresno State says at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Fresno State police department was notified of the threat.

The threat was against the on-campus residence halls and dining hall, the off-campus University House in Fig Garden and a professor's residence.

In coordination with Fresno Police, campus police officers immediately evacuated all threatened areas.

The threat was fully investigated and found to be not credible. Officers believe the incident is related to a social media post involving a class assignment by one of Fresno State's professors.

In a statement, Fresno state said:

"We strongly condemn any actions that threaten the safety and security of our campus community. We are working diligently to identify the source of this threat and will take appropriate action in accordance with our university policies and local law enforcement."

Fresno State also added that the safety of everyone on campus is its highest priority and will continue to investigate the incident.

Fresno State posted a Bulldog Alert just after 12:18 p.m. informing students and staff of the evacuations and potential threat.
