TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- An 8-month pregnant woman was one of the three people hospitalized in a South Valley shooting that was captured on camera Thursday night.

The video above is from an earlier version of this story and will be updated.

The Tulare County Sheriff's County Office says the shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. in the play area of the Orosi Sports Complex.

Deputies say a 16-year-old boy, a 20-year-old man and the 23-year-old pregnant woman were walking when they heard gunshots and realized they had been hit.

Surveillance footage shows a person wearing a grey hoodie and blue medical mask creeping up from behind the group and firing more than five rounds at them.

The suspect can then be seen running away in the opposite direction.

"They heard the gunshots, and then they looked down three of those four individuals and realized that they had been shot," said Ashley Ritchie with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

"She, luckily, was shot in the foot and the toe - the ankle I believe. One of the males was shot in the middle area, and another one I believe the torso."

All three victims were rushed the hospital and listed as stable.

The pregnant woman was awaiting surgery, but she and her baby are expected to survive.

"It could've turned out a lot worse and we're grateful that it didn't," Ritchie said.

The sports complex is a go to spot for many.

It's located between El Monte Middle school and Orosi High School, not far from where Manuel Munoz Martin lives.

"I heard a chopper. I live in Cutler, i thought something was going on. I heard a chopper, the ambulance, the fire department, sheriff, you know," recalled Martin.

Martin says he never walks at night.

Doesn't surprise me," Martin said. "You don't think it happens in small communities, but it does. All (those) big city problems, we have (them) here too."

Detectives are now actively analyzing footage from surveillance cameras scattered throughout the complex as they work to identify the suspect and a motive.

"We're still investigating whether or not this is gang-related. Anybody watching the video, it's hard to not believe that they were targeted," Ritchie said.

"It looks like they were in the video, but that's still very much part of the investigation."
