FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A deadly stabbing in Southeast Fresno has neighbors on edge.

One neighbor who didn't want to be identified for privacy reasons tells Action News she's shocked to hear of the stabbing so close to her home.

"I heard my dog making all this commotion. I look at my cameras cause usually when he's barking it's because people are walking by. I look at my cameras and I see it's already taped off, and there was cops," said the unidentified neighbor.

Fresno Police arrived at this home on Fillmore Avenue near Jackson Avenue just before 7 a.m. Saturday.

Detectives said the victim was a man in his 40s.

"The homicide unit has been contacted. We do have a team of investigators on same that are canvassing looking for some video evidence," said Lt. Paul Cervantes with Fresno Police.

Detectives said there were other people inside the home who witnessed the stabbing.

The suspect ran from the house after he stabbed the victim several times.

Authorities said this is the 29th homicide investigated by the Fresno Police Department. Compared to last year at this time, there were 34.

As detectives continue to collect evidence, other neighbors are sad to hear about the violent attack.

"I really, really feel for the family, the loss, man, you know what I mean," said Fresno resident Aurelio Garza.

Garza said he grew up in the neighborhood and says it's shocking to hear someone was killed less than a block away from where his family lives.

"I've never heard of anything like this, at least on this side, my neighborhood. It's really alarming, now, you know, it's just close to the house," said Garza.

As the search for the suspect continues, Fresno Police encourage anyone living in the neighborhood to look over video surveillance in case they captured images of the suspect running away.
