Vallarta Supermarkets will stop selling tobacco products

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Vallarta Supermarkets are removing tobacco products from stores throughout the state.

The new move makes Vallarta the first and largest grocer in California to go tobacco-free.

Store officials said the decision comes as tobacco continues to harm Latino families nationwide.

In California, nearly one million Latino adults use tobacco.

Of the 34 stores in California, 14 of those affected are in the Central Valley.
