Blue Angels flew over Valley Children's giving patients a special treat
MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- It was a packed outside of Valley Children's Hospital Wednesday. Patients and their families got to watch the Blue Angels do a flyover planned just for them.
It was a special performance for some special people at the Valley Children's Hospital. As the US Navy Blue Angels flew over close to 100 kid patients giving them a chance to step out of the hospital and for a second forget why they are there. "She loved it," said Mary Moran, Violet's mom.
Six-year-old Violet Ruby's mom witnessed the spectacular event with her daughter in her hands. Though Violet did not say much, her mom said the excitement was written all over her face. "Every expression on her face when she sees something like this, it's a good thing to the heart-- because it's something that she enjoys," said Moran.
Valley Children's said the commander of the Blue Angels, Ryan Bernacchi, organized the event after his daughter five years ago was treated at the hospital. He wanted to give back so kids so they could have a moment of joy.
Action News live streamed the flyover on Facebook and people like Diane Duinkerken who watched on our page said it "gave me goose bumps, and I wasn't even there!"
Hospital staff like Amy Russo said the few seconds of entertainment will go a long way. Helping patients like Violet on the road to recovery. "It's a good excuse to get out of their room and make them feel like they're not the hospital for that day."
