CAMARILLO SPRINGS, Calif. -- A home in Camarillo Springs was targeted in a burglary after it was red-tagged due to mud and debris flow from the latest storm, Ventura County Sheriff's officials said Sunday.
The burglary happened on the 6300 block of Gitana Avenue, where several other homes were red-tagged following Friday's storm.
Authorities said the burglary happened when the evacuated residents were away from 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 12 to 2 p.m. Dec. 13. The suspect stole $11,000 worth of jewelry, sheriff's officials said.
No arrests have been made. A suspect description was not available.
Evacuation orders were lifted for the neighborhood Saturday. Thirteen homes were red-tagged and are total losses. Some of the homes still have rocks and mud piled up to the rooftops.
