Tony Gray's home surveillance camera recorded video of the coyote-cat melee as it unfolded on the Surfside Beach porch early Thursday morning.
"Coyote upstairs on my beach house rear deck..." he wrote on Facebook.
The cat tried frantically to hide or escape from the coyote. It appeared to have suffered a few close calls in the jaws in the wild animal.
Eventually, the feline made its way to safety up the porch support and the coyote moved on.
Surfside Beach police confirmed to our sister station KTRK-TV that there is a coyote problem in their community.
They are working with Texas Parks and Wildlife to find a solution.
There is no word on who the cat belonged to or where it went after the encounter.
