FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- China Peak Landing is ready to welcome visitors for some summer fun.
The landing is a dock area on Huntington Lake where folks can rent boats and kayaks, or just get a bite to eat.
"The good news is we don't have a lack of water, the lake is incredibly full," said Tim Cohee, President of China Peak Mountain Resort.
Tim Cohee, who has been managing China Peak for more than a decade explained that with 700 inches of snowfall this past winter, he expects this summer to be one of the busiest in a long time.
"You're probably going to see the latest fall we've had in many many years, so last year we closed in August because the lakes ran out of water. This year, we're probably going to be all the way through September with a full lake," explained Cohee.
At higher elevations, areas of China Peak and other businesses like Vermilion Valley Resort are still overwhelmed with feet of snow and don't expect to accommodate guests until late June.
The mountain bike park at China Peak typically opens on July 1, but with the snow, organizers are projecting that opening day will most likely be pushed back.
"At 7,000 feet, the lake, all the snow is pretty much gone. Up in the mountain here, very different story, you're still looking at three or four feet, maybe even more," said Cohee.
Cohee explained that there was a week's delay in opening this season for the summer season.
That was so they could get the docks ready because they were covered in snow.
"If the wedding season, if the bookings for the concert series we have here if the reservations for the boats and what I've seen already today on Friday, June 2, over at the boat house is any indication, it will be the biggest summer we've ever had," explained Cohee.
In the meantime, China Peak Landing is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Starting after the 4th of July, they will be open 7 days a week all the way through Labor Day.
