CUTLER, Calif. (KFSN) -- Cell phone video captured the moments following a deadly hit and run crash on Highway 63 in Cutler Thursday night.

The California Highway Patrol says a man was walking across the road when a vehicle struck him, and then took off, headed north.

It happened just south of Avenue 404, in front of several businesses, including Excel Auto Sales.

Owner Maria Gallardo heard the collision.

"When I see the body in the street, I said oh my God, this is a big crash," Gallardo said.

Gallardo says she called 911 while her husband and another man went into the street to warn drivers about the body in the road.

"My husband saw the truck," Gallardo said. "He told me it's a white truck and he told me like it stopped for a couple seconds and he go faster again."

The CHP says they are still looking for the driver and the vehicle. They do not have a description of it yet.

As part of their investigation, they say they will look for surveillance video from businesses in the area.

Meanwhile, the coroner's office has identified the victim as 55-year-old Rafael Mariscal, of Orosi.
