FRESNO, Calif. -- Hundreds of tires were collected this morning at Pinedale Elementary School for the City of Fresno's annual tire amnesty event. So far the nearly fifteen-year-old program has taken in over 40 thousand tires.

Organizers say having it in place helps stop illegal tire dumping in and around the city.

"This one lady her son's had 40 tires on the property she made several trips 9 at a time and she was able to get rid of them with us," said Anna Manzula.

The City of Fresno says its' next tire amnesty event will be in February or March of next year.
