FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The State Center Community College District (SCCCD) announced the board voted Tuesday night to appoint Dr. Dale Paul Parnell, Jr. as the next chancellor.

Parnell is currently the president of Norco College in Southern California.

"I am both honored and humbled to have been chosen to serve as State Center Community College District's next Chancellor," said Parnell. "I am excited to join the State Center team and work with the Board, faculty, staff, and students to provide the excellence in education the community deserves."

Dr. Parnell earned his Ph.D. in education, psychology and community college studies from Oregon State University, his master's degree in counseling/psychology from Ball State University, and his bachelor of science degree in international affairs from the United States Air Force Academy.

Before leading at Norco College, Parnell served as vice president of academic affairs at Rio Hondo College, Whittier, CA and as dean for social behavioral sciences at Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga, CA. In 1993, Dr. Parnell retired honorably from the United States Air Force.

State Center Community College is comprised of Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, Madera Community College Center, Oakhurst Community College Center, and the Career & Technology Center.
