FARMERSVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) -- An elementary school in Farmserville was placed on lockdown after several students became ill on Wednesday.
The Farmersville Unified School District says about 43 students reported feeling sick at Freedom Elementary School.
Officials say the children described feeling nauseous, dizzy, and numb in their mouths and fingers.
In a message from the school, they informed parents that emergency responders were checking on the students but that the campus would be locked down.
A majority of the students were taken to local hospitals to be evaluated.
Parents picked up the other sick children.
Officials believe something the students ate made them sick.
The school cafeteria has shut down as Tulare County health officials investigate.
School is set to resume on Thursday.
