Parent tells FUSD trustee to "shut up" while addressing board during meeting about bond measure
Harsh words exchanged Wednesday night at the Fresno Unified school board meeting over a bond measure on the November ballot.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Harsh words exchanged Wednesday night at the Fresno Unified school board meeting over a bond measure on the November ballot.

Parent Andy Fabela made the outburst towards trustee Valerie Davis telling her "why don't you shut up" after he said she muttered under her breath that he was "ignorant."

Fabela was speaking to the board during public comment and was upset with what he said is a lack of transparency by the school district when it comes to how a $225-million bond will be used.

District officials and several trustees have been sparring over the measure.

Wednesday superintendent Michael Hanson held a press conference in support of the bond and included numerous projects and facility improvements that will be made because of it. Thursday, trustees Brooke Ashjian and Carol Mills will be speaking at a press conference against Measure "X"-- saying there is a lack of community input when it comes to using the bond money.

Voters will ultimately decide on the bond next month.
