Local developer putting collection of properties in Downtown Fresno up for sale

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some prime Fresno real estate is up for grabs. A collection of new innovative homes-- praised for revitalizing Downtown Fresno-- may soon be under new ownership.

Tucked between the Mural District and Lowell Neighborhood pockets of vibrant communities are emerging-- brightening up a worn-out downtown.

"It's so cool. I used to ride the school bus and the city bus and the design of the iron bird lofts were so fancy," said Katherine Davis, tenant.

That modern, chic look attracted dozens of young professionals like Davis. And took developer Granville Homes over a decade to complete. The vision then and now was to revitalize the heart of Fresno.

"I just told myself someday I want to live in Downtown Fresno and try to promote its growth because I love it," said Davis.

After investing in numerous projects, the company decided to sell nine properties last week.

The Granville urban portfolio totals more than one-quarter million square feet.

President Darius Assemi said it's time to move on.

"We've invested a lot over the last decade, we believe downtown is on a roll, and we want to look at other communities to invest in."

Granville was one of the first to develop the area. The developer said he's brought in hundreds of residential units and that now, the city's focus should be on commercial businesses.

"No city can be successful without a successful downtown, especially in our own backyard, we spent a lot of resources to develop these projects," said Assemi.

The price of the portfolio is unlisted but there have been several inquiries. Neighbors said whoever the new owners are the hope is they continue to breath new life into a historic area.

"Just so much for people to explore, you just need to get rid of the stigma. So come on down-town," said Davis.

Out of the nine properties, two are still under construction and one, the Lede, is set to have its grand opening Wednesday.
