FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- California Highway Patrol officers checked dozens of car seats Saturday at the Mexican Consulate of Fresno.
The Safety Seat Check Up event started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at noon. Parents and caregivers were able to bring their child's seat to make sure it is properly fitted to their car.
Authorities say unsecured seats are a common problem in accidents.
"Out of every five car seats, four are not properly installed and that is a high number," Graciela James with the CHP said.
Technicians also checked car seats for defects and recalls.
