Developer plans to restore Historic Fresno home

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Craycroft home built more than 90 years ago, on Palm near Sierra, was purchased by a well-known local developer. Developer Reza Assemi is the owner of the property, who is trying to bring the estate back to its glory days.

Built in 1927, the structure home to the Craycroft family who made their living on their brick company. After the family sold the property in the 1970's or 1980s, it fell victim to vandals.

Assemi says after driving by the property with his daughter, he decided it was the time for transformation. He bought the property and the carriage house was brought down. Extensive work has been done to clean it up on the inside.

One of those rooting for Assemi is family member Beverly Knobloch. Her aunt Mae and cousins lived in the home. Going to the home surrounded by figs was a favorite past time.

Stories like these have inspired Assemi to restore the home, which he says is still solid.

The floors remain intact and wallpaper still hangs in some parts of the home. He's now working on structural plans to see what the future holds.
