Fresno Co. deputies investigating man's death as homicide in Mendota
An investigation is underway after a man was found dead in Mendota Sunday morning.

MENDOTA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno County Coroner's Office has identified the man found dead outside a home in Mendota on Sunday morning as 40-year-old Danny Ramirez.

Homicide detectives say Ramirez, who also went by the name of Dennis Rodriguez, was unhoused.

Mendota Police officers were called to the scene for reports of a man laying on the ground outside a home on Oller and Fourth Streets just after 6:30 a.m.

When they arrived, the officers found Ramirez lying in a carport with what were described as traumatic injuries. Ramirez was later declared dead.

Mendota Police requested the Fresno County Sheriff's Office to take over the investigation.

Ramirez was last seen alive on the night of April 15.
