Restaurant offers free food to 'good looking' customers

A restaurant in Zhengzhou, China, is offering a promotion that offers free food to "good-looking" customers only.

Korean restaurant Jeju Island is now using a "face scanner" to take a picture of customers before they're seated. After the patrons are seated and begin dining, a team of plastic surgeons assess the facial features of customers, who are photographed, according to CNET.

Those restaurant customers who are deemed most "good-looking," according to the restaurant's sign, get a free meal.

The promotion will reportedly end in mid-February, according to Chinese news service Xinhua.

However, the promotion has faced opposition by some who accused the restaurant -- and its large sign saying "Free meal for good looking" -- of damaging the city's reputation. The restaurant's billboard was taken down with a crane by local authorities who did not approve of it.

The panel of plastic surgeons are believed to work in partnership with the restaurant in order to advertise their services.

Customers reportedly get advice on plastic surgery, according to ABC News. Every half an hour, about three plastic surgeons make the decision on the customers who are scored on their appearance across four categories: face, eyes, nose and mouth.
