LAS VEGAS (KFSN) -- Hundreds of fans, friends and family members gathered in Las Vegas on Sunday to remember the life of Coach Jerry Tarkanian. The 84-year-old died two weeks ago after decades of coaching men's college basketball, including at Fresno State and UNLV.

On Sunday, a public memorial was held and the Thomas and Mack Center. Relatives and former players spoke about the impact "Tark the Shark" had on the community and his sport.

"The last 10 years my father coached, he won 330 games, 10 straight league championships, three Final Fours, and the national championship by the largest margin in the history of college basketball," said Danny Tarkanian, Jerry Tarkanian's son.

"We averaged 111 points a game without any shot clock, without any three-point play," said Jackie Robinson, a former UNLV player.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval also proclaimed Sunday Jerry Tarkanian Day.

Tark was also honored at Fresno State this weekend, where university President Joseph Castro and former Fresno State players remembered the legendary coach.
