Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel honor Joan Rivers by trading barbs

In the deluge of tributes and comments following the death of Joan Rivers, fellow sharp-tongued comedian Sarah Silverman challenges the idea that saying Rivers' life was long makes it easier to accept her death.

"A lot of people, when they die at 81 you go, 'Well she was 81. She had an amazing life,' but she wasn't done!" Silverman said as part of an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." "She was...right now was at her most vital."

Silverman also said that Rivers, a personal hero of hers, wouldn't have wanted Silverman to be somber on her account.

"I know that if she was here she would want us to be here and be funny," she told Kimmel, "and she'd probably want me to say like, 'Nice tie. Who made it, Calvin Clown?'"

Kimmel and Silverman exchanged barbs, and Kimmel reflected, "I think this is the way Joan would have wanted it."
