SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A recycling facility worker in Sacramento County was sorting recyclables along a conveyor belt when the load operator spotted something out of the ordinary heading his way.
It was a kitten coming down the conveyor belt, surrounded by a bunch of debris when the shift worker spotted her.
The lucky cat was saved before hitting its next stop in line - spinning metal blades and a compactor.
The kitten also survived a ride on a garbage truck before a tractor pushed her on to the first of two conveyor belts, where she was discovered.
"It's just amazing to see a little kitty survive through all this," said Tony Miranda, the loader operator. "It made my day today, definitely made my day."
The shift supervisor has claimed the kitten as her own, naming her "Murphy", after the material recovery facility, or "Murph" where she was found.
A veterinarian examined "Murphy" and said she's in good health.
