KNIGHTSEN, Calif. -- Two Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies are recovering this morning after they were shot during a standoff.
It happened around 9 p.m. Thursday in Knightsen just east of Brentwood. Authorities say the suspect came out of a home and fired a shotgun at members of a SWAT team. Deputies returned fire, killing the suspect. The two deputies were transported to the hospital.
Officials say it began as a domestic violence incident Thursday morning. A woman reported the suspect held her hostage overnight, poured gasoline on her and threatened to light her on fire.
Authorities have not released the name of the suspect or the conditions of the injured deputies.
