Supervisors approve funding for Madera Community Hospital, keeping hopes of reopening facility alive
The hospital closed its doors in December 2022 due to financial issues and filed for bankruptcy in March.
MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Madera County Board of Supervisors has voted to approve funding for Madera Community Hospital.
The board voted 5-0 during a meeting Tuesday morning.
Exactly $500,000 will be given to the hospital from the American Rescue Plan Act Budget.
It will come in four separate payments of $125,000 each week during the month of August.
During the meeting, Councilmember Esmeralda Soria was recognized for her efforts to reopen the hospital.

Adventist Health issued a non-binding letter of intent last week, saying it would agree to manage the hospital if money could be secured to reopen the facility.
The hospital closed its doors in December 2022 due to financial issues and filed for bankruptcy in March.
Madera Community also applied for assistance from California's Distressed Hospital Program.
They are hoping to secure an $80 million loan from the state program, which would be paid back over six years at 0 percent interest.
