Valley family in court fighting doctor from Mexico who they claim killed two patients including family member

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two grieving families are in court fighting a doctor from Mexico. Both accuse the plastic surgeon of killing two women in the operating room.

For Belinda Falcon Munoz and her family, a surgery in Mexico has turned into an international nightmare.

"We saw that my sister was sad. We saw that she wasn't in a good place. So whatever it was going to take to make her happy."

In 2014 Munoz's sister Roseann Falcon traveled from Madera to Mexico. Roseann met Dr. Victor Ramirez for an inexpensive tummy tuck,

but Munoz said he persuaded her sister to do liposuction and a buttock injection instead.

"The minute she got out of surgery she started complaining that she could not breathe."

Thirty-six Hours after her surgery Falcon was admitted in the hospital and almost one year to the day of Roseann's death Munoz received some more upsetting news.

"I got a call from my nephew who said I just heard that there was another death in Mexico from the same doctor."

Evita Nicole Sarmonikas of Australia also went to Dr. Ramirez for buttock implant surgery. Munoz said she didn't even make it out of surgery.

"As we continued to investigate we realized that this doctor was not even certified or licensed or trained to perform these types of surgeries."

Both families are now fighting Dr. Ramirez in Mexican court on allegations of homicide. But Munoz does not believe he's the only one at fault.

"He's been able to do this not by acting alone. He's had people covering up for him."

Munoz said initial autopsy reports showed the women died from either natural causes or a heart attack. But once they ordered an autopsy from an independent coroner the results were alarmingly different.

"Clearly the second autopsy that has been used in court shows that is not true. That they died from puncture wounds to their organs."

For now, they're fighting to get Dr. Ramirez's medical license taken away. A man who Munoz said is still conducting surgeries. They are also seeking an unspecified amount of damages.

"The Sarmonikas family and the Falcon family are going to fight until we can't fight anymore to bring justice for our sisters. They deserve justice, they didn't deserve what happened to them."

Our repeated calls to Dr. Ramirez's office were not returned.
