Mike Tyson's championship belt recovered after burglary in Fresno County

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County Sheriff's deputies say Ramee Ayesh broke into a Friant home and stole cash, jewelry, electronics and an autographed Mike Tyson World Championship Boxing Belt.

Investigators say a fingerprint on a sales slip from the Clovis Gold and Silver shop was found in a stolen car that was abandoned after a crash in Central Fresno, along with other stolen property, led them to Ayesh, 29, of Salinas.

On March 16th, the Sheriff's Office received several reports of burglaries. The first was at Millerton Country Store -- but investigators say the cash register was empty, so Ayesh left without taking anything. They said he later broke into a home in the gated Mira Bella development and stole some personal and financial documents.

Detectives said he then broke into the Brighton Crest home and stole the Mike Tyson World Championship Boxing Belt -- which the owner considered a one-of-a-kind item valued at $15,000.

After a receipt from the Clovis Gold and Silver store was found in the stolen car, investigators visited the shop and found the owner had the Mike Tyson belt and was working to get it appraised. She also said Ayesh had sold her some jewelry.

Investigators learned the wrecked car, a 2016 black Ford Fusion has been stolen from the Salinas Valley Ford dealership. When detectives contacted the manager, they learned Ayesh was currently working as a salesman for the company.

Detectives drove to Salinas and talked to Ayesh during his shift. They said when they searched his car, they found some stolen items from the two homes in Fresno County -- and a claim ticket for the Tyson belt.

Ayesh was arrested and taken to the Fresno County Jail but has since bailed out. The majority of the stolen property was recovered and returned to the owners.
