Fundraiser held to support Planet Vegan after food truck fire
Fundraiser held to support Planet Vegan after food truck fireAfter an explosion sent one of the co-owners of Planet Vegan to the hospital, the food truck community expressed its collective shock.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The community was in shock after word got out about the fiery explosion that destroyed Planet Vegan.

Many are still in disbelief that one of their favorite food trucks is no more.

That's why local food truck owners decided to help their fellow vendor through a fundraiser featuring 30 food trucks at five different locations.

"I think it goes to show how beloved a food truck they are," says Fresno Street Ears President Mike Oz. "They are a pretty popular truck -- I've seen them have lines just crazy long."

One of the co-owners of Planet Vegan, Joe Ellis, was severely burned during the incident. His recovery is expected to take some time.

"He's doing good," says Michael McElroy. "I talk to him every day. He's in great spirits -- it's a road to recovery for sure."

On his road to recovery, McElroy says his brother and family are speechless from the overwhelming support they have seen and felt.

Firefighters are still investigating the incident to determine if a fire caused the explosion or if the explosion caused the fire.

As far as Planet Vegan making its return to the food truck scene, owners say that plan is definitely in the works, but they are asking for patience as they put together a timeline and a surprise.

"Planet Vegan for sure will be a business open again,' Michael said. "We got a big surprise for everybody as well."

A GoFundMe page was also started.
