Valley Congressman David Valadao is getting campaign help from a prominent republican leader.
House Speaker Paul Ryan will appear at a private fundraiser for the republican congressman. Ryan is campaigning to protect house majority during the final stretch of the election and has been raising millions of dollars throughout the nation. He is now coming to the Central Valley where he will make an appearance at a private fundraiser for incumbent Republican Congressman David Valadao.
While distancing himself from Trump, Speaker Ryan has been saying this is make or break time for America.
Campaign officials for Valadao are not releasing the name of who is throwing the event. They are only saying it is at a private residence in Fowler. Attendees are paying $1,000 to attend dinner and $2,700 for a V.I.P. reception and photo opportunity.
Valadao is currently running against Democrat Emilio Huerta for the 21st Congressional District. It is a tight race, so the campaign feels this is just the boost they need with less than 2 weeks to elections.
Huerta, a Bakersfield attorney, is the son of UFW co-founder Dolores Huerta. He say this visit shows concern about the election.
This will be Paul Ryan's first visit to the Central Valley since he was the vice presidential candidate back in 2012. The V.I.P. reception begins at 5:15 this evening in Fowler and dinner starts at 5:45.
