Tulare County supervisors approve new water well in Porterville

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Drought relief for some South Valley residents will be coming soon. Tulare County supervisors approved an agreement on Tuesday to construct a new domestic water well to flow to Porterville residents.

Nearly 800 wells in that city have gone dry this year. 1,500 wells in Tulare County have dried up, and residents have had to rely on bottled water deliveries and portable tanks.

The new well will be drilled at Olive Avenue and the Tule River at a cost of $809,000. Construction is expected to begin by the end of August.
