The Jimmy Butler trade saga with the Miami Heat is finally over.
The Golden State Warriors are finalizing a multiteam deal to acquire Butler from Miami, ESPN's Shams Charania reportedWednesday.
Butler will join Stephen Curry and Draymond Green on a team that -- as of Wednesday evening -- is tenth in the Western Conference. He also agreed to a new two-year, $121 million extension with Golden State through 2026-27.
Butler seemingly celebrated the move with a post on social media.
He posted an audio file, presumed to be from an unreleased song by the American musician Breland. The lyrics include: "Welcome to the Wild, Wild West, where the dogs don't sleep and the sun don't set."
Miami was in the midst of a game against the Philadelphia 76ers when the news broke, while the Warriors were preparing to face the Utah Jazz.
Fans shared the details of the Butler news to Heat players on the bench, receiving close attention from Jaime Jaquez Jr., Tyler Herro and Kevin Love.
Butler spent five seasons with the Heat, helping the franchise reach the NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023. The move ends a situation that resulted in Miami suspending Butler multiple times throughout the season, twice for conduct detrimental to the team and once after he missed a team flight.
The six-time All-Star will return to Miami's Kaseya Center on March 25 when the Heat host the Warriors.br/]
