CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect has been arrested for stealing a pair of designer jeans during an online sale in Clovis on Thursday.
The robbery occurred in the area of Peach and Gettysburg.
The Clovis Police Department says a woman arranged to meet a man to sell a pair of jeans she had listed on Facebook Marketplace.
Sarina Revoir said she often uses the site to sell unwanted items.
She was looking to sell a pair of designer jeans she says didn't fit.
The jeans retail for nearly $1500, she asked for $850.
Messages were exchanged with who she thought was a woman, ready to seal the deal in the parking lot of a business on Gettysburg and Peach.
Minutes before the meetup, Revoir said she started to get a bad feeling.
"I originally thought I was talking to a girl online. She told me that she lives in the apartments across the street," said Revoir.
"Then she said that she sent her friend out and that's kinda where I was like, 'Okay, this is a little sketchy.'"
Revoir isn't new to online sales.
She thought she was being pretty precautious by bringing a friend and meeting in a public space, but the exchange with the teen who subbed in went south.
"He was holding them originally just kind of looking at them," said Revoir.
"He was acting like he was trying to send me money and was like 'Oh, it's not working' and then he reached into his bag and then kinda flashed a gun and that's where we kind of went our separate ways."
As the teen ran off, Revoir said she got in her car and called 911.
She then met Clovis police officers nearby.
A Clovis police K9 and the Fresno Police Department's helicopter were deployed, but it didn't take long to find the suspect.
"One of our officers was in the area pretty quick and located him. He actually ran from one of our officers and hopped the fence which is kind of what pointed us into that direction," said Clovis Police Cpl. Dan Wilson.
Police said the weapon turned out to be a pellet gun, but the minor was still arrested on armed robbery charges.
To help keep sellers and buyers safe, Clovis police offer a designated exchange spot outside their headquarters for safe sales.
There is a security camera in the area and monitored 24/7 in case something goes wrong.
Revoir says this incident won't stop her from her online trade, but she'll be headed to the police department for her future digital deals.
