FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- According to the Fresno County Department of Public Health, a dead bat was found on the corner Van Ness and Merced Avenues in Downtown Fresno.
The bat was discovered on Tuesday and collected for testing for rabies. On Thursday the lab confirmed that it did have the disease.
The FCDPH is reminding the public to not touch wild animals, dead or alive, and if you have been bitten or scratched you should go to the doctor for testing.
Also, pet owners should make sure that their cats and dogs are current on all vaccinations against rabies.
