Storm triggers accidents, power outages in Bay Area

A storm that moved into the Bay Area Sunday night has caused several traffic accidents and power outages across the region and airport delays.

One of the biggest traffic hot spots this morning is in Livermore where a big-rig accident is blocking westbound I-580 lanes. A Sig Alert has been issued and there is no estimate when lanes will reopen. Drivers have been reporting delays of more than four hours to head from Tracy to Dublin.

San Francisco International Airport is reporting no significant delays, but anticipates delays of 35-45 minutes as the storm progresses through the day.

Earlier this morning an accident involving a big-rig shutdown eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge past Treasure Island. The accident has since been cleared.

In Menlo Park, a five-car crash left thousands of nails in the eastbound lanes of the Dumbarton Bridge in Menlo Park earlier this morning. One person suffered minor injuries in the crash

More than 8,000 PG&E customers are waking up without power in the Bay Area. The biggest outages are in San Jose, San Mateo, Napa and Tracy.
